Not Every Disagreement Is An Argument

And not every argument is a fight.

Four Categories of Conversation:

1. Discussion– general sharing of information, exploring topics through talking.

2. Disagreement– expressing a disagreement as to a statement of opinion or statement represented as fact made by the other you are conversing with WITHOUT trying to persuade them to adopt your belief or opinion.

3. Argument– during conversation marshaling evidence and using reasoning to try and convince another person about the the rightness of your opinion or belief, and/or to adopt your opinion or belief, in a civil manner.

4. Fight– The lowest form of conversation. Conversing by hurling personal attacks, insults, slander, libel in response to a conflicting view or opinion.
